What is urge incontinence?

This is the term used when, for no apparent reason and without warning, an instant, urgent and overwhelming need to urinate is experienced. It’s sudden and immediate and depending on circumstances, getting to the toilet in time isn’t always possible.

Causes of urge incontinence

Urge incontinence can be the sign of an infection so consulting a medical professional is a good idea.

Other causes include irritants such as caffeine, alcohol and fizzy drinks or even dehydration which means urine can become highly concentrated and again, cause irritation.
